Default Vacume Packers Rock!

For those of you who don't have vacume packers I recommend you find a friend with one or get one. The difference is remarkable. I wasn't a believer and it took me years to finally get one. I got one about 6 months ago and it really makes a difference in how well stuff lasts. I'm real picky. To the point that I give most of my fish away because I don't like the way it tastes if frozen for more than a couple of weeks.

Well, my neighbors are probably wondering why I haven't stopped by with my fish "gifts" lately. I just had some blackfin that had been frozen over a month ago and it was perfect.

I got mine at Sam's. Vacume baggers-

Capt. Fred,
I'm right there with ya. Got mine about 9 months ago. huge difference in what the meat or fish looks like coming out of the freezer, and also a side benefit is when you're defrosting in water, the vacummed bag doesn't float in the water like my old freezer bags did.

I would get one but then I would have to catch fish to use it on.

One tip for bagging your fish. Put the filets on a cookie sheet uncovered in the freezer for a few minutes. This will slightly crust them and you won't have the problem of trying to suck the water out.
