Default Washington Baum Bridge - Docking?

For any of you Outer Banks guys.

We are renting a home with a dock on Lone Cedar Court. To beat traffic I'm leaving around 4am which should get me down there about 11am. Since we can't get into the rental until 4pm or so I would like to go ahead and put the boat in a head of time. The public ramps at the bridge would be they easiest. Is it safe to keep my boat tied up in the little canal by the ramp for 5-6 hours? I have a cover for the console and of course would remove the keys.

Thanks

Having your lifejackets on board and not wearing them is like putting your seatbelt on during a car accident.

There were several personal boats tied up there during the week following July 4. I would feel comfortable for such a short time but I would have it locked up and nothing on it. I would also park close to the parking lot itself to give the impression that you are in one of the trucks in the parking lot.

Thanks, thats just it. I'll need to leave the boat alone while we check in unpack etc...

Maybe if Matt isn't busy he wouldn't mind sitting at the dock for a few hours watching the boat with all the beer you can drink. I am using VR for the rental and I think I read that was one of their perks 'Boat Watch"

When I said park close to the parking lot, I was referring to the boat itself. The channel slips run all the way up towards the entrance of the boat landing. I would leave the boat about half way up but still within site of the parking lot versus all the way up the canal. That is just my opinion.

Of course having Matt sit and watch it is a better idea.

you'll be fine tying it up there for a few hours, guys do it all the time. Or, you could also drive over to manteo public waterfront, they have a gazebo with public slips for boats so you can go shop.

Thanks Chris

Because the boat is for sale I guess I'm overly concerned about her safe keeping.
