Boat pricing question for 22ft + boats
I only ask because I am new to boating and am curious but why do boat prices go up exponentially after 22 ft. It's amazing to me. I mean... you can buy a nice 22 ft boat for 35,000-40,000. then to move up to a 24-28 ft boat you looking at 75,000-100,000 and so on. 32-34 ft boats 200,000+.
Why does the cost increase exponentially once you hit the 22 ft mark.... a 24 ft boat shouldn't cost twice as much to build as a 22 ft. boat. I understand there are different tiers of boats but the size thing simply makes no sense to me.
Someone enlighten me. I'm all ears.
Dave

Yeah, I agree Dave. It doesn't make any sense. I hope someone can chime in and give some insight.

More materials , more goodies , bigger trailer, more power , molds cost more, don't sell many bigger boats.
Kind of like cars and trucks , you can buy a Dodge 1500 for 20k or you can buy a Ford F350 for 58k

It's the size of your BVD's that go up too, especially when ya hit the over 34' boats.

Thats because owning a giant truck today is cool...when you live in a one bedroom apartment and have zero need for one.
Because large trucks are so cool now, is why I drive a 1995 F-250 extended cab eaten away with rust from saltwater, with no passenger seat.
Remember when trucks were for farmers and low lifers, and they all came with AM radios and only two doors?
I bought my boat instead of a 58K truck last year.

I hear ya dave , mine is a 90 model F350 and I aint buying a new one but the guys pulling 12,000 - 14,000 lb boats need a big truck not a 1/2 ton.
Same goes fo cars , we can get a 15k Neon or a 80k sports car and they both do 70 mph but the latter might do 200 mph . Now we go back to Quallity and Construction.
Some people think You and I are nuts for what we paid for our boats I could of bought a 23 boat for 10k BUT we know our alloy rides will be fought over by our grand kids.

The alloy boats are safer [ not safe, no boat is ] than a glass boat . its due to a solid conductor to the water.
