Getting to be that time of the year and continue. People who play in boats which are not properly maintained for a MEGA BIATCH can have serious problems.

Glad everything came out OK.

I got home late last night from LA , I did as I was ask by Stephen , if I did not hear from him by 4pm call the CG and start looking .
I did not take my phone book on Vacation with me that's why I had the CG post up here.

The gentlemen that I did business with on the phone [ Coast Guard ] are AWESOME and VERY professional .

Stephen at no time was in danger , it was just VERRRRRRRRY slow going due to the weather . Stephens boat is Very well maintained and he is a capable operator on his boat .

The weather that POPPED UP Between him and the coast went from basically Florida to Louisiana and that made for ..........Code, No Joy ,

Because Stephen filed a Float plan with us we knew where to look for him and when he should be back and as you can tell by the times on the above posts it all worked very fast.

Hats off to a Smart Capt. and the US COAST GUARD , well done guys.

Lester, nice job on getting the ball going on it! Better safe than sorry.

I have a bit of a different take on it though. To say he was in no danger is not quite accurate. Whenever any of us gets out of bed we are in some level of danger. While fishing offshore, managing the risk, planning for the things that can be anticipated, and dealing with what comes up unexpectedly are the keys to limiting the actual damage.

You guys did all of that superbly.

The wife gets excited if I don't call by 4pm when offshore fishing. If I've got Braxton onboard I've got 2 messages by 3 pm when I get reception 15 miles out. Mostly, what did ya catch messages.

Hats off to Steven and Lester for doing what they were supposed to do in any given situation and following through with it. Steve could be drifting around right now and the only one who would notice is Fairweather because Bluffman hadn't logged in every 15 minutes at TBR.

And I agree about the Sat Phones, there, Capt Fred. I'd love to have an iridium, but it's just too much money.

EDIT:

Bluffman, you do need to be yelled at, you shouldn't have been gone that long. HEHE

Actually, she'd prolly be happy with the insurance money at this point. She gets rid of the boat payment and me at the same time. "Honey, what are you doing to that thru-hull?"

"Just making sure it's tight, dear" chuckle chuckle.
