Car Hire in Los Angeles???

Hi all,
Fly into LAX 4 September for another 3 month USA driving holiday. Having a little trouble getting quotes this time. Some agencies will not rent for 90 days or allow a vehicle to be taken to the East coast. Used Budget last time but they are not looking good. Need an Impala or similar.
I looked at buying but there are too many hoops to jump through then I get raped when or IF I can sell the car.
Anyone out there with rental contacts?? I'll buy you a beer or two.
