Default Good and bad about a "Glock" Model 21SF

Anybody on here own one? (Glock Model 21SF)

Most people I talk to tell me to get a Glock for the house.

Your Comments Please?

I've got a 23 and love it. Glocks aren't for some folks though. They fit my hands real well but I know some folks find them awkward.

Reliable, accurate, and they go bang every time they're supposed to.

Rick, real guns are made of steel and are heavy ..........LOL

For the house , get a shotgun and use loads that wont leave your house and enter the neighbors house.
Don't forget to buy a gun that you can buy ammo for, ANYWHERE.

I like my Python .357 with Glazier Safety Slugs, my wife can handle the double action revolver , DOESN'T JAMB , and is a very good shot with it.

I've jammed a .357 revolver. Cylinder locked up midway between 'last shot' and 'next shot.' FYI, it can happen.

Glocks: I find them to be clunky and the trigger to be terrible. Also, the trigger safety thing is a gimmick. All modern guns have drop safeties and most have firing pin blocks (ie, EVERY GUN won't go bang unless you pull the trigger...so the Glock's "safe trigger" does nothing other than make people feel warm and fuzzy.)

Just my opinion on Glocks. For home defense, I'd recommend a shotgun with a light. Also, keep it accessible unless you have kids. My roommate (we don't have any kids...) keeps all of his guns in the safe downstairs. Makes a lot of sense. The other night we heard a thump, woke us both up, we both exited our rooms at the same time. I'm standing there with my .45 and a flashlight...he had a really long metal ruler. Never figured out what the bump was, but I asked if he was going to size up the attacker before I told him to leave. Tonight he pulled out his 12ga and when I asked if he was moving it to his room he played coy and said he was cleaning it, but now that I mentioned it, he might.

All my opinions, worth exactly what you paid for them

I have a Colt .38 detective special that stays in the truck when on the road and service calls. I have a .357 that stays out of reach of the kids in the bedroom for home protection.

One of the good rules of the NRA's home defense guide is to always keep your weapon far enough away from the bed that it will require you to get up and get it out of wherever you keep it stored. That way you are fully awake by the time you've got a gun in your hands. I keep it in a small pushbutton safe.

This book:

Armor of New Hampshire: In The Gravest Extreme

is the best discussion I've ever read about self defense with a firearm.
