I've jammed a .357 revolver. Cylinder locked up midway between 'last shot' and 'next shot.' FYI, it can happen.
Glocks: I find them to be clunky and the trigger to be terrible. Also, the trigger safety thing is a gimmick. All modern guns have drop safeties and most have firing pin blocks (ie, EVERY GUN won't go bang unless you pull the trigger...so the Glock's "safe trigger" does nothing other than make people feel warm and fuzzy.)
Just my opinion on Glocks. For home defense, I'd recommend a shotgun with a light. Also, keep it accessible unless you have kids. My roommate (we don't have any kids...) keeps all of his guns in the safe downstairs. Makes a lot of sense. The other night we heard a thump, woke us both up, we both exited our rooms at the same time. I'm standing there with my .45 and a flashlight...he had a really long metal ruler. Never figured out what the bump was, but I asked if he was going to size up the attacker before I told him to leave.

Tonight he pulled out his 12ga and when I asked if he was moving it to his room he played coy and said he was cleaning it, but now that I mentioned it, he might.
All my opinions, worth exactly what you paid for them
