You are correct. VMW is only on my watch list. I have a number of stocks that are relatively new issues but I am very leary of brand new issues as you just don't know what will happen when the underwriters dump more stock on the market. Take a look at LDK, a chinese solar stock. It got whacked bad. Plus there is the 'flying V phenomenum' that often happens to brand new stocks.

Anyway, I've been fortunate so far but I am very vigilant and play it safe with tight stops. I have no doubt that 'The Great Humiliator' (Ken Fisher's name for the market) will get me again at some point. I hope I am lucky enough to weather that storm when it happens.

It has put the smackdown on me more than once. It is addictive though as long as you do your research. I keep looking at the Chinese market but it bothers me that one morning you could wake up and your business is taken over by the govt b/c it can.

FIG was another new company (hedge fund) that was supposed to be the latest and greatest new offering and look at it.

Picked up 500 shares of EMC today. It had a nice breakout. I bet you're kicking yourself in the butt for getting out of it.

Ernings were up greatly but future guidance was flat and the market reacted badly. Fortunately I had a stop in place that bailed me out with a small loss. Overall, I'm still up about 60% for the year but I'm a bit worried about the market and will cash some out.

Wasn't CROX down compared to last year? I haven't checked it in a while. If you look at it price to earnings it is priced quite a bit higher than comparable stocks or the S&P 500.

http://ratings.thestreet.com/tools/b...gs.html?s=crox

Overall the market wanted half a point not a quarter and that dissenting opinion on lowering the rate hurt today. Add on top of that exxon and citi and look out below.

What about GRMN though they had good earnings and got butchered also. I think they are in trouble with the lose of their mapping software maker Navteq to nokia. Now they are going to get in a bidding war for tele atlas with tom tom. I think that will continue to hurt garmin until they secure a supplier. My question is how does that effect everbody who is buying the latest and greatest from garmin. Will they get neglected because garmin might not use navteq this time next year.

Localangler,

You're forgetting that CROX slit 2 for 1. My original purchase of 500 shares became 1000. I sold 500 of those earlier at a great price. I later sold the other 500 also a great profit. Then I got back in a was up considerably until yesterdays fiasco. Overall I still made good money on the order of say more than enough to repower my boat with twin 4 strokes.
