Default Thought about the new Tahoe?

Thinking about doing some trading on the old tahoe we currently have and also getting rid of tyhe Silverado SS that we have and just having a new tahoe. Has anyone tried towing with one of these. I'll be towing my Mckee which weighs in with half load of fuel at 6800#. We do have a friend that owns one and hooked up to it one day to see what it would do. I was pretty impressed with the job it did, both towing and STOPPING. But, that was only a 20 mile round trip. Anyone have any experience with these SUV's? My criteria is it must be my wife's daily driver, capable of hauling 4-5 adults, capable of trailering 7000#. Thoughts??

David,

Keep what you have!! I just left a toyota dealership and they only offered me 13000 for my 2006 loaded tahoe with only 32000 miles... The market isn't there for the big trucks.

Yeah, I know I'm not going to get what I want for either my SS or the hoe. But, there's a lotta equity in my truck and it's a speciality vehicle so we'll see. I 'd like to pay off all my cc debt and have one vehicle in the yard with warranty that's capable of hauling more people than I currently can And getting rid of all my debt at the same time other than house, new hoe, and boat. Right now, I'm testing the waters

It sounds like a simple plan........what's the towing rating on that new Tahoe you're thinking of? Sure would suck if you're not legally rated to haul your 7,000 plus boat, plus gear, ice, people, etc.

Better keep the hoe you've got, changing them always costs a lot of money.

I tell ya Dave, I pull my boat with my wife's Nissan Armada, and we've been pretty happy with it. It's had a few issues. Front brakes died at 5 K miles, tailgate hatch won't auto close (sensor), passenger window gets off track. But it's all been fixed under warranty, and the motor is a beast. Seats 7, MPG is about 18 highway, and it can tow 10K lbs. I'd only load a boat my size (or your size) on it, but it has the brakes and suspension to do it.

It's an option, but we've been pleased with the SUV. Plus, SUV's require no weighted tags, as you know.

Yeah, I like the no weighted tags option. And as far as the hoe we have, it's only rated for 6200# if I'm not mistaken. And it has 113,000 miles, so if something breaks, I have to fix it vs Chevrolet. And with kids in the future, I need something capable of hauling the boat and 4-6 adults/kids at the same time.

And as much as I love my truck, it just doesn't get driven enough because I always drive the old full size blazer we have and the wife drives the hoe. I need to get rid of one or both of the vehicles I currently have. And the new hoes are sweet!

Made a deal tonight on a new tahoe. What they did was cut me a check for the Silverado SS. They gave me what I wanted on that too. We traded in the 2000 tahoe in(got shafted a little on that deal), but came out pretty good with the rebates on the new Tahoe. They gave me a Tahoe to drive until ours comes in. I hooked it up to the boat to see if I would be happy with the balance, and was a little unhappy with it until I realized that the damn tires only had 30#'s of air in them. No damn wonder the truck was swaying a little. I'll fix that problem tomorrow because before I actually accept delivery, I told them The New tahoe had to tow my boat with 0 problems so we'll see. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it I think. I'll let you know how it turns out.
