Default Time for Some Changes...

Hello All,

As this forum is continuing to grow TBR is starting to have more and more people joining and their first and only post being in an effort to sell their boat...

TBR was not developed for the sole purpose of having a sales section, but instead that is just an added plus to our members.

So here in the next few days I am going to "lock down" the sales forums. Mainly stated, those who are members now will be "grandfathered" over so that you will continue to have access to post items for sale.

New members will have access to reading the sales forums and posting replies, but will not be allowed to post a new thread without joining the burners club, which can easily be accomplished by using paypal.

So if there is anyone who has been out there lurking for some time, now is the time to join up as I expect I will have time to make these changes by this weekend.

I did not plan to start "charging" members in order to post their boats for sale this soon, but one of my biggest pep peeves is when someone's first post is an advertisement to sell there boat. In my mind you might as well be spamming.

If anyone has a problem with this decision please let me know, but it's about time..

Matt

Way to go Matt..............You put that foot down.
I think that the charter guys that post on here and don't post other than there catch, never give any info or help out other members should also be charged. All they are doing is getting free advertising.

Fernando,

thanks for your approval, now I can defintinly move forward without any concerns.

As for the charter guys, I am going to work on that soon enough. They are going to let them advertise for free until we get a few more members...

Matt there are plenty of places for folks to sell whatever equipment they need to move.

To "ME" the sales area is just something as a sort of an "Extra" to the forum.

My reason for being here is to hang out with folks who have an appreciation/addiction or whatever you want to call it of boats and fishing. (Jerks waiting to get jerks on the other end of a fishing line )

Of course the fellowship with some plain Ole-pure-d-good folks. And laughing at/with each other when we describe the "Off the wall" stuff that seems to follow all fishermen (Women in FJ's case) in our search for our quarry.

I wholeheartily agree..

I've got my boat on two sites for sale, seems with this economy everyone is selling a boat.

Had a long conversation with Bob at Anglers Edge on Tuesday. When the checkbook recovers from fishing this weekend it goes there. I'm not looking forward to all the tire kickers and phone calls I'll receive.

There are plenty of affordable for sale options out there for boats and equipment. And asking for a small donation to help out the site before posting a for sale item is not out of line.

I like it. I'll be putting my Montauk 170 for sale at the end of August. With any luck I'll be moving up to 2008 Dautless 200 over the winter.

Guys the changes have been made and all current members should still be able to start threads in the for sale sections. If you have issues let me know, I tried it out with my "practice" username and it seemed to work well.

So now only the first 556 members of TBR are able to post for free in the for sale sections.

Again, if any of you have any issues let me know.. I am going to add a note to the top of the forums in order to let all members know that if you want to start a thread you must join the burners club..

Thanks for everyone's support.

Matt
