Default How big of a boat?

With gas prices the way they are and the hassles of towing a 27' Grady from South Florida to Pirates Cove, I'm thinking I'd be better off buying a smaller CC and leaving it in NC. We generally cruise Roanoke Sound with some fishing and tubing mixed in. Typical trip is 4 adults and 4 kids ranging from 7-13. While a head in the console would be nice, it probably won't happen unless I drop a lot of money.

Thanks
Greg

Hey Greg

My little 170 does a great job, we tube with 3 adults and 3 kids, sorry no head. She'll be going up for sale the end of August.

Having your lifejackets on board and not wearing them is like putting your seatbelt on during a car accident.

Actually what got me thinking about this was a 1992 Montauk in Craigslist for $5k - what I was going to be spending on a new trailer. Guy has offers up to $7k and will take the highest offer at 5pm today.

I could work mine down quite a bit Greg..... Perfect for rock fishing. Mine's got a head. ANd you hit the gulf stream on nice days. I'll come park it behind the house next week if you'll just send the check.

If you're just playing in the sound, nearshore, it's hard to beat my buddies boat, a Maycraft 1800 with a zuke 90 four stroke on a jack plate. He can get in 1 ft of water, and he's usually right beside me when the rock are running, even been so far as up to the NC VA state line in the ocean with it.. He's got 600 hours on his motor, and it's showing no signs of giving up yet. Simple, rugged with dependable power, and you can have a lot of fun tearing up the sound.

You have a nice ride and would give me more range when I felt like coming up in the offseason but for something that only gets used a few weeks a year, that's more than I want to spend.

The Maycrafts are great boats, the captain I go out with has a 27 and he can get it shallow and goes off shore as well!
