I don't know how or when war came to be "polite". I remember when we considered our enemies to be enemies and we would use our strength and technology to reduce the country to a smoking ruin rather than sacrifice our men.
Somehow we lost that goal. We now fight and then pay to rebuild, while paying $4.00 for gas.........
Maybe I'm too stinkin' old to understand.....
I'd rather Iraq glowed in the dark than lose another man. If they don't want us there, I have a suggestion. Let's remove them, not us.
Kern, read Michael Yon, or The Long War Journal. (both on line) With the help of the Iraqis we are removing them. By the truckload now. I don' know why THAT'S not front page news, but that's just the way we are now.

Given a fence has three sides to it, the left side, middle and right side. Well I'm on the right side with Kern O. If the people of those lands haven't changed their way of life in over 2,000 years I don't know what make us believe we can change them overnight?
The problem is the worst in those parts of the world that missed the industrial revolution. Where animals are still commonly used for both transportation, farming and recreation, things are generally not good.
