Default Not going good for me right now... My ankle is broken..

Many of you know, I'm fishing my boat in a few weeks in the FWF here off the OBX of NC.

This last weekend, my brother needed me to help with some manual labor replacing the roof on his house, tearing off and replacing shingles on a 12-4 pitch roof.

We got the job done, I spent all weekend up there banging shingles on. Tripped on a few extension cords along the way.

Unfortunately, I've either turned my ankle real bad or broken my foot. For the last three days I've been gimping around, I can't point my right foot up, and it is swollen. I end up tripping on my toes because I didn't lift up my foot enough.

Going to the doctor tomorrow.

Regardless, I might need some extra help from you guys, in launching the boat. But we're still going fishing. I'll just have to sit there while the crew reels everything in.

Chris, just tell them to put that foot in a boot, and you'll be just fine, If you need some help with your boat, I don't think you'll have to look far

Chris - you've got roofer's foot. You've stretched the muscles/tendons/ ligaments in your feet/ankles.

Good luck at the Doctor, let us know how it goes.

Holy Crap. That sucks Chris. Get to the doctor and let us know how it goes. There will be plenty of folks around to help out. Let me know if you need to borrow a bean bag chair for your trip. You probably aren't going to want to be standing on it all day on a boat.

I must admit I had to laugh when I clicked on "New Posts" and saw Daddy'O's name and broken foot, I instantly linked broken foot, skateboarding and Farmer Jane altogether. Wayne my friend, boy did you dodge that bullet.

Chris, drags for you on the clunker. So what actually hurts? Is it bone, muscle, tendon, ligament pain?

You didn't mention anything about falling or something heavy falling on your foot, therefore I would suspect your injury is only soft tissue related. If so, then you need to be elevating your foot and rotating between a bag of frozen peas to wrapping your foot/ ankle with hot damp towels (about 10 each about 10 times a day). The cold/ hot thing will reduce the swelling and stimulate healing in the area. The elevation also helps with circulation and the reduction of swelling. Chances are a great deal of your discomfort is from the swelling, so reduce the swelling and things should feel better.
"Gentle" message of the area would also be good therapy.....it will enhance circulation. "Gently" stretching of the joint(s) should also be good therapy.

But now if the foot/ ankle is broken.......you're f-----.

Best of news from the doc's Chris and if he prescribe an anti-inflammatory, take it.

Well,

Back from a full day of x-rays and mri's....

No work for me for the next few days. I have a herniated disc between my fourth and fifth vertebrae, and the leaking fluid is pushing on my nerve going down to my foot.

Surgery not required(good)
4 days of bed rest is (bad, I'm not one to sit still)

So it's not so bad, I guess.

I guess that's good news?

Atleast it's not surgery. Next time your brother needs a new roof tell him to call someone else..

Too bad your 4 days of bed rest will involve the weekend
