L-4 and L-5 have played a large role in my life for many years. To be honest, I'd prefer a broken ankle. But, what you have is what you have.

Discs are funny things and doc's love to use them to make their car payments. Take the prescribed rest and watch your hydration. If you have enough water in your body, the discs (at least in my experience) stay in better shape. If I get dehydrated, I am rolling the dice.

If you are suffering from spasms, have the doc script you some Valium. It does wonders for killing the spasms that will knock you right back down.

Yikes ~! Sorry to hear about the back trouble! Garret has some really good information on A.R.T. (Active Release Therapy) - PM him for it. Tell him FJ sent ya. After your days of bed rest (VERY IMPORTANT!!) ask your doctor about this treatment.

Also - note to yourself for future reference: STAY OFF OF ROOFS!!!

Take care and get well quickly~!~!~!

Good luck on the back.Last winter I screwed mine up loading a deer into the back of my jeep. That cost me 3 weeks of work.I had rip it.Now back 2 years,I had to have my neck cut on from some @ss hitting me in the rear.Screw up c5 and c6.I still hurt from it to this date.Last mri is showing c6 is going out big time and I might have to have that one cut out for more dead man to replace it.My doctor wants me to give up boating and fishing all together.Told him if that is the case, there is no reason to live!Hope I can get 5 or 6 more years out on the water if not more.
