Yes, but it was non-dsc equipped. I gave it to a guy at work, but this is the first time this boat has had a registered MMSI Number. I installed and programmed the radio. No dealer has touched it.
I have been screwing with the wiring trying to get new LED lights rigged and neatening the bilge.
Last weekend I just changed the Racor and mount, and my hatch covers are unscrewed so they can be resealed. I ran out of time to go get new sealant for them.
The radio is an ICOM 322, still under warranty.
I'll also contact ICOM and see what they have to say.
Unfortunately, I have to help my brother put a new roof on his house this weekend, so I won't be able to do any trouble shooting until Sunday.
It's gotta be a switch related issue, leaking voltage or a spike somewhere, more than likely I messed with something last weekend that caused it.
The USCG guy I spoke with last night at 1am, said it was very possible with the high humidity for the radio to hit that far away if it keyed, even with the antenna down. He also said that even with non gps epirbs, they can only track it down to a 4 mile range. In light of my radio problems, the USCG was very professional and helpful at 1am. I could hear in the background the radio operator speaking with the other vessel who relayed the message to the CG. The PO was very interested in the case and I will call them back when I figure out the problem. I hope they don't flag my MMSI number in any way.
