No offense taken Cap1. Truly sorry about your co-worker.
In my own defense, I was quite the skateboard rider in my youth. My youngest son has surpassed my skill level & can ride & do tricks that simply amaze me. I was showing him some of my old tricks when he suggested I try a new one. It looked simple enough. I even planned to land in the grass just incase. Well, everything was going great up until I hit that little piece of gravel. The board stopped, I didn’t. My son was laughing his head off (as was I), until he looked at me with a scared look & said DAD! YOUR BLEEDING! I said, “really?” and found out he was correct. FJ aka Mom was not impressed nor did she have any sympathy. She’s asked me several times in the past to please stay off that thing. Saying something to the effect of “you’re too old to do that”. You know what, after my little tumble, and now seeing a constant reminder in the mirror, I finally believe her.
Yep, I’m lucky to have her & to have not been seriously injured. Although, I think my pride has been seriously injured. You wouldn’t believe how cruel co-workers can be. They were all concerned until I said the word ‘skateboard’. Then all you heard was laughing, an occasionally dumbazz, but mostly, “how old are you?” followed by more laughing & pointing.
I know it beats the alternative, but I don’t think I like this getting older thing. Any suggestions on how to do this gracefully? I know… first thing is to stay off skateboards.
