Great info. Thanks. I'm glad to see the mainstream media finally covering this. Your wife's right, it's a bunch of crap.

My roommate rants and raves about how crappy it is, too.

I believe him, and I believe you...and your wife...and TIME, but like I always ask him: What the heck can I do about it?

I'm all for trying to change things with my wallet, but if I can't find pure gasoline anywhere anymore then what's a guy to do?

Here's a chilling quote from the same issue of Time magazine:

"Hilary Clinton unveiled an eye-popping plan that would require all stations to offer ethanol by 2017...... Barack Obama immediately criticized her - not for proposing such an expansive plan, but for failing to support ethanol before she started trolling for Iowa votes."

There's a bright future coming - if you own stock in ADM

To really bust the bubble. If there is NOT more then 84 million hectors of corn planted this year, the price of bread and everything else that has something to do with corn will more then double in price. So,that is everthing from bread to the meat one buys will go up big time. Now the future is looking very bad with that due to all the flooding.Buying shorts into corn has gotting out of control.I few farmers I know has booked some of there crops before all this happen and before the price of diesel jumped thru the roof. They are looking at a lost, ain't that some sh-t!Easter sunday I had to go pick up some cooking oil to fry a few big birds.Penut oil for 3 gallons was $54.95.WTF?Last Thanksgiving,it was $29.99for the same.Think I just might clean that up and pour it into my truck.LOL

My company is projecting a 160 million dollar increase for next year because of grain and oil cost. Expect meat prices to start soaring.

Very interesting & disturbing article. Really makes me sad to think what the future could be like for my boys.

cdail - you're right about the beef. I just bought some feed for $6.05 (50lb bag). This time last year it was just shy of $3.

I too feel the same for my son. The next administration is going to have a HUGE of amount of S*** on their plate to deal with. I for one think a large amout of our current problems would be much smaller or non issues if we have stayed out of the Middle East 5 years ago. It makes me cringe everytime I think about how the billions upon billions of dollars we spent could have been used in dozens of other way, alternative fuel, hospitalization, schools, the 80% of road and bridges that are in need of repair etc.................

Well, you've got two groups at work that are proven to F up everything they touch.........the govenment and so-called enviromentalists. What did you expect? Anytime politicians get involved its for the wrong reasons and they usually go in the wrong direction. Environmentalists would rather see the poor starve rather than offend their delicate sensibilities of what is pure and pristine. They don't care how many folks they put out of work either if it means acheiving some obscure goal of little value. It doesn't matter that they can't prove that their solution can indeed 'fix' the so-called problem or even has a reasonable chance for success. They just want to be judged by their intentions. Most americans want results, not good intentions.

They're almost always misguided since this group is driven by emotion rather than science. They rely on bad science or none at all because they're willing to listen to any huckster or guru that supports their point of view. Rachael Carson's 'Silent Spring' written in 1961 has led to millions of deaths from malaria around the world as a result of banning certain insecticides thought to cause problems which were later found to be the result of PCB's not pesticides.

Remember the banning of Alar? That's another well orchestrated scam based on bogus science later proven to be totally bogus and out of context from a poorly credentialed scientist operating out of his field of expertise. Too bad about all those folks at Uniroyal who lost their jobs a result. The same thing is going on with this global warming BS. Somebody stands to make a lot of money over it. Wouldn't be ALGORE would it??????

Yep, this Ethanol from corn and soybean bubble is totally ineffieicent and will probably do more harm to far more people around the world than it does any good. For now it sure is helping my industry but that bubble will burst like they all do. I give it two to three years before this madness ends and we move on to the next in thing.
