They were nice enough to give us $1,000,000 for the victim's relief fund and then come play an exhibition game. Pulled their starters after two innings, but A Rod went and sat in the dugout with all of the Tech players until the 4th or 5th inning and most of the others signed autographs behind the dugout or bs'ed with fans through the fence while the bench guys beat the Hokies 11-0 in seven innings.
I've got more pictures, but I haven't uploaded all of them...
Pretty awesome that they donated $1,000,000 than came and put on a show for the fans!
Also, must have been an amazing experience for the VT Players especially getting to shoot the breeze with A-Rod, who in my mind will got down as one of the top 5 players to ever play the game! Even thought I'm not a big fan mainly because I hate the Yankees!
Honoring the victims of the unfortunate reason we were there...
Shelley Duncan mingling with us common folk:
A-Rod literally just got up in the middle of an inning and while the Hokies were batting, he just walked behind the plate and wedged himself in the middle of their bench...and stayed there.
As much as I hate the Yankees it was mighty classy of them to do what that did for VT and the victim's relief fund.
I will be attending a Yankees games in NY in June on a family trip. It will be my son's first baseball game(other than going to a Tides game in Norfolk). We are all looking forward to it. This is the last season that the Yankees will be playing in "the house that Ruth built". They will be playing either the Padres or the Reds. It depends on which night we can get the best deal on tickets. I will be pulling for the visiting team
