Default Few boating questions to help a 10th grader do a school project

My little cousin (who is my main fishing partner) called because he has a school project in which he can go anywhere on an imaginary trip but he has to document all costs with real world numbers...well I apparently have rubbed off on him because his dream trip he picked was to fish his Carolina Classic 28 down the coast to Key West from my house in Suffolk, VA. He's got a house in Key West and he's already got the costs of the house and assumes he already owns the boat...he needs cost of fuel and docking. I can figure out the specifics for him, but I'd like some help on two things:

Does anyone know the fuel burn on a CC28 GAS powered? If you only know diesel that's fine, but he for some reason decided on gas powered.

What's the best way for me to figure out how many miles it is assuming he stays on the outside except for fuel? I'm at school and my GPS is at home or I'd just use that...

Thanks,

Throw in how much fishing time and cruise time will be a big diffrence in how much fuel will be burnt.Say cruise is at 40 mph with a fuel burn at 22 gph is about right.Throw all that out the window if weather kicks up!Now this is with outboard motors.Inboards look at a cruise of 22-24 mph with a burn of 25 gph.

Yeah I was going to say probably a mile or so a gallon. Lots of stops to re-fuel. Also, make sure he upgrades the "boat" with all the necessary safety equipment, spares etc for a long trip like that.

I google Earth'd a trip down the coast and got roughly 1200-1300 miles pulling into an inlet once every 200 miles or so.

So say roughly a mile per gallon sound safe? If so it carries 250-260gal of gas so the stop every 200 miles would work too.

He's a farm boy and goes to school with 90% other farm kids, so nit picky details will not be called out by his teacher...now if he were planning a trip to the cotton gin or to Richmond for the state fair, then we'd need to cover every base, but this he just needs gas and semi-realist idea of how many stops he'd make.
