Having your lifejackets on board and not wearing them is like putting your seatbelt on during a car accident.

That is tempting.....

Might go down and see if John is willing to 'gotiate, it could be a TBR project.

That boat does have a history......

Your yard or mine? (mine can't handle a 50 footer)....

Talk the wife into it

There's plenty of room at my parents house (3+ acres) but talking my mom into keeping that in our field has a snowball's chance in hell...she hates my 19' Bayliner sitting around and she can't even see it (behind the shop, which is behind a fence...and she still complains...pretty sure the 41' boat sitting in the field beside her house wouldn't fly.)

Maybe Bayliss would let you keep it somewhere on the hard down there for a monthly fee? (I don't know if y'all are serious, but I would certainly put some sweat into grinding and glassing if I got to fish it when it was done.) Be fun and I'd learn a thing or two along the way for sure.

I worked at Sculley Boatbuilders for a while, and let me tell you, in order to turn that boat into a running vessel, ready to hop aboard and fish, would cost appx 75 large, and that's just the cost of materials, USED motors and gears, and converting tanks from gasohol to diesel.

Speaking of glassing, that's about 1000 man hours right there.

Also, not talking about yacht finish, just charter boat finish.

It WOULD be fun, but I'd be living on the boat during the process!!!

That sure is one old girl. Fixed up, she would look very classy, and dignified. Sorry, I get a little carried away looking at old classics like that and thinking about the sights that old boat has seen. Price seems right. A LOT of work there, but if the right person came along with the knowhow and the funds, they are going to get a nice boat

I wasn't implying it could be done cheaply, but it could be done by regular joes with the right amount of time and money.

My neighbor brought a 31 Bertram back from the dead on his own with little more help than 100's of cases of beer and lots of late nights (plus a deep back pocket.)
