Default 2 weeks and 2 day since surgery

Well its been 2 weeks and 2 days since my back surgery and I'm finally starting to feel better.
I just started taking my second and last dose of steroids to keep the swelling down. This morning I broke the 5 minute mark for getting my socks on. I plan to go back to work on Thursday for 1/2 days until the following week were I'll go back full time. I can honestly see I can't wait to get back to the grind. I have never been so dam bored in my life.

Having your lifejackets on board and not wearing them is like putting your seatbelt on during a car accident.

Yup, it sucks being layed up. Glad you are coming along though. Be careful and take your time!

Thanks

Right now I'm feeling pretty dam good. The only thing that really bothers me is getting in and out of my truck. I thought it might be better in my wife's RAV but I was wrong. It will be nice to get back to work, it should only take 2-3 days to get things back to normal

Was the first week as painful as you expected? Most people I know who have had the surgery are very glad they did it, but they all comment about the pain level right after surgery, especially those who were made to walk the first day.

I have a friend here on Maui who had to have his surgery done on Oahu (another island) they put him back on the plane home the next day.

The 1st 3 days was not that bad because of the pain killers in the hospital and at home I was taking. However, I took my last perk on Saturday night (had the surgery Thursday AM) I woke up Sunday and thought I was beaten with a bat. The pain Monday and Tuesday was very intense and had me wondering if I did the right thing. I called the surgeon on Tuesday morning and he said that was normal. My surgery went will but he said the swelling from the operation was the cause of the pain. He called in some steroids for me and by Wednesday night I felt better. I can honestly say the 1st day I felt good was day 18. I still have some numbness in my toes and I'm told this should go away it 3-4 more weeks. If it does not then the nerve has be permanently damage from the bulging disc pressing against it for so long. I'll take the little bit of numbness over the pain any day. Today I'm back at work for another half day, still stiff and a little achy but overall the pain in my leg is gone.....for now
