Got to take part in the charity salmon season up north with family and friends this alone is worth the effort ! Me and Ben have been cooking this trip up for months wishing the conditions and fish would be there ? loaded the sled with hundreds of pounds of salmon trolling gear I forgot how heavy this stuff is ! Wed morning we hit the water with Ben John and Chris on a flat foggy sea. fish info was a few salmon were caught 4 miles SW in 150’ of water put the downriggers at 139 and 75 the salmon ball setup at 51 pulls then trolled south talking about talking about how many years its been since we have done this god I have missed it ! Just like opening day seasons of past that first throbbing downrigger salmon takedown happened we all jumped to our battle stations screaming our intentions to each other smiles all around just waiting to see that silver flash on the surface the scary lost fish headshake the hot run at the engines the final twisting headyanking splashing and in the net she goes a bright fat 15# hen damn its been a long time !! Everybody caught a salmon that day they do exist ! In the afternoon we rockfished wfo big black cod with some lings and quillbacks mixed in 40 cod in one hour we fished three days straight. salmon in the morning cod limits in the afternoon this fix felt Ohh Soo Good !!
Had breakfeast with John and his wife. Talked about fishing styles! We could not agree so instead of typing our hatred online we took it outside in the parking lot and settled our differences like MEN! In the end we both respect and understand eachother!!!!!
