Hi, What a great site!!
I am currently a fill in mate for a 51 ft sportfisher out of Morehead City, NC
Here is a short Bio of how I got here...
My father was the first to ever take me fishing, I started when I was still in diapers. Now that I look back on it I have been fishing for 39 years

My first fish was a Red Snapper, I was hooked !!, and my father would take me to Mexico to deer hunt what an adventure. He had three girls I was the youngest, he really wanted a son, I was moldable

Thanks Daddy
When I was a teen I was pulled overboard by a 90+ pound wahoo, and was unable to get him to the boat, I was just lucky to survive the ordeal, the fish took the bucket and the rod and reel. when that happend it made me want to fish more!! My mom still worries about me.

But that is another story.
The day came as it does to us all when my father told me "girl, your going to have to go to college or get a job, you cannot fish for free and surf for the rest of your life" I guess it was his way of saying get out!!

I had to take a hard look at my future I knew I was not the girl who would be happy behind a desk I had to be outside , I looked into marine biology. BUT I wanted to fish. So I went into sportfishing, the two things I really cared about .. boats and fishing. And have never regretted my decision.
When I first started fishing for a living it was hard for women to find their way on a sportfisher and taken seriously. Most women were allowed on a boat as a boat bunny.
I landed my first job on a sportfisher that had an all woman crew. I had to prove myself so I was the first one on the boat and last one off everyday, and loved every moment of it.
We ran charters just about everyday, the guys loved it ...beautiful women in bikinis catching them marlin what a concept, we all had to work out alot, but we got the job done...Thanks Ann I owe it all to you.
I eventually did go to college and am a papered chef. Went to work for a while on mega yachts, but was unhappy . So now I am back to doing what I love the most, detailing boats and fishing. Hey, it pays the bills.. and I am so happy. There is something to say about doing what you love.
I have fished the Texas Gulf coast from Mobile to Texas, from Florida to Mexico with some of the best fishermen in the world. There are so many more places I want to fish and one day I will.
I am currently juggling detailing boats and fishing tournaments. Yep, I wake up everyday with a smile.
If the Lord willing I will continue fishing until the day I die. Maybe I will be rigging baits or fighting a feisty fish when God calls my name... one can only hope.
That is my story ... what is yours??
