Default Putting new lights on the trailer...questions:

Anything specific I should do outside of the ordinary?

They're LED lights, but they appear to be designed to fill with water and then drain...with saltwater that doesn't seem to be the best situation...should I attempt to seal them using 5200 or silicon or something or just leave as is?

Anything else?

My LED's don't fill with water , I don't think the water thing is right that's why we use LED's cuz you can dunk'em.

I got tired of changing mine, so I got the one that mount on top of the guide posts. They are very easy to do. Just splice your wires with butt connectors and use liquid tape, peace of cake. They don't leak anymore.

They're a "Submersible LED trailer lights" kit, but there are drain holes in the bottom and no attempt at waterproofing elsewhere (ie, they're not sealed...or at least the case isn't...maybe the LED part inside of the red lens and black backing is).

I've got heat shrink connectors and liquid tape ready to go...doin it tomorrow I reckon, little cold (33* F) and a little late to be headed out tonight.

I looked at the same ones looks like air will trap inside the light frame and not allow water to go up I hope the led is also sealed which will keep the water from getting to the light and wires

I put em on about a day after I posted that (so 12/17ish/2007)...I've dipped the trailer probably 15 times since then and they're still workin fine. Actually wired them up after dinner one night and dipped them for the first time at 10pm that same night for some night striper...

I'll keep ya up to date, let you know if I go home in two or three weeks and the lights don't work...which would suck.

I have had one of the new led lights come unmounted and the highway deconstructed it!! In my case the led's and all the internal wiring was encased in epoxy. No other form of waterproofing should be needed. With as little of what was left the lights still worked????

The LED is the way to go!
I put mine on the top of my guide-on's.
But here is how I wired them,,,I started in the front of the trailer with marine wire (The kind that is tinned and has four wires in one jacket) and ran it all the way to the lights.
I soldered ALL connections, liquid elect tape, and two layers of heat shrink tubing. No crimps!
I also did the same thing on the up-rights where the lights are.
I have no connections in the wires that will be submerged under water.
As you can see,,,,I hate messin with trailer lights!!!
