Playin hooky, I think before I go to get a class-A license,I would check with DOT as endosements go as follows 0-26,000lbs class -c... 26,001-46000 straight-job.class-b..46001-80,000 combination truck and trailer Class-A..Now I may be a little off on the weight differences from bto a but am positive on the 26,001 for class cto b..Please check with the DOT.on that..

Class a is up to 26,000 lbs total combined weight but if your trailer is rated over 10,000 lbs or you are towing over 10,000 lbs you have to have a class a endorsement, not a Class A CDL. Example: My F250 weighs 8800 lbs my boat weighs 11,100 and my trailer is rated at 12,000 lbs. 8800 + 12,000 = 20,800 way below the class c limit of 26,000 but I have to have a class a endorsement due to the weight listed on the trailer and the weight of the boat are over 10,000. It sucks. I haven't gotten the endorsement yet and you also have to have your trailers inspected yearly just like a car. I have yet to find a trailer inspection place in my area.

Cdail, try a tractor trailer shop in your area. It is my understanding that they can do the inspections. Don't quote me on it though
