Default New Tow vehicle

Decided to bite the bullet and get a tow vehicle with warranty on it. My Silverado did a pretty decent job towing my boat, but I needed something that I could put 4-5 adults in, tow a boat, and be my wife's daily driver. This way if something breaks, Chevrolet has to pay for it, not me. I ended up selling my truck to the dealership, trading in my tahoe, and taking the rebates on a new Tahoe LT3 package. All in all, I made out pretty well with the sale of my truck, so I'm pretty happy with the deal. The Tahoe gets pretty good reviews towing a load, and I'll probally put an air suspension under it as well. The wife loves the truck though, so that's a good thing

David , she sure is NICE, congrats.

I had to get one also as mine gave up after 18 years........

The red crew cab was a 90 and my family and friends grew up with that truck, I'm gonna miss her bad but the 5.9 cummins is one bad motor with a 6 speed manual.

Damn, you oughta be able to tow a house with that beast. The Cummins has always been a great diesel. Lots of torque!!!

I got lucky and found a new [ 17 miles on her ] 07 for a VERY good price and yes she has the torque , 610 foot lbs and 325 HP stock.

I have heard guys say they dont know the boats back there , well, Iknow it's back there but the cummins don't

Farmer Jane said it's like riding in a muscle car going through the gears.

I went with the regular cab this time as I usually run by myself or one other and there is a bunch of room behind the seat [ it will hold 5 gallon buckets back there ]

Mark, I towed it with another Tahoe that they gave me to drive while waiting for this one to come in. It drove fairly well, once I added some air to their tires. It did have a little bounce to it which I plan to take care of with air bladders to stiffen up the suspension. It didn't squat the rear end down much at all. I also hooked a friend's Tahoe LTZ with the air suspension on it and it towed my boat like a champ. The 5.3 definitly has the torque to pull it and the brakes stopped the boat very well. I'm hoping the 3:73 gear will do a little better than the 4:10 I had in the Silverado. That was the only problem I had in towing with my truck was trying to keep it one gear at interstate speeds. This transmission in this truck is supposed to be better than the one in my Silverado. Time will tell i guess. There is a 100,000 mile warranty with this truck as well.

It's amazing what they've done to diesels nowadays. I grew up driving 6.2 chevy diesels and there's a lot of difference between those motors and these. People put chips in their diesels around here and race sports cars with them!!
