Default 2" ball weight restrictions??

What with the NC going crazy on the towing issues, I want to make sure the i's are dotted and the t's crossed. That being said, I cannot find a 2" ball that is capable of more than 6000# cap. I have been to Tractor Supply, Agri Supply, wal-mart and coolins here in smithfield. Every ball that I looked at was either 5000 or 6000#. It seems to get more weight, you have to go up in size. So, I have a question. How many of your boats weigh more than 6000# but uses a 2" ball. My boat fully loaded weighs in at about 7500#. I have a 6000# receiver and 6000# ball. Anyone have experince with this??

Weaver Distributing 1-800-932-8373 is great, they have everything you need for trailering even the big stuff.
I didn't see a web address for them and didn't think to try a search before I posted but here's some numbers for what your looking for.
Standard Hitch Ball
2" Shank dia. 1 1/4" Shank length 2 1/4" weight rating 10,000 lbs.
Order # HLB12
Hope this helps,

You are not legal in that situation, to go over that you need a Load Leveler hitch and if ya want to get serious a goose neck.

I would say that 90% of the boat trailers are not legal going down the road.

Read the owners manual , a 2" reciever is good for 5K and a 2 1/2" reciever is good for 6K and it dont mater if these are on a F150 or a F350 truck .

The 2 5/16" Balls that you see stamped 10K, 20K or 30K are for GOOSE NECK applications not so called Bumper pulls.

On towing Boat trailers we like 7 to 8 % toung weight and normal trailering we like 10% .

If we use the 10% rule and were pulling a 7.5K boat that would be 750Lbs on the ball [ Most truck bumpers are rated at 500 lbs toung weight ] now add people coolers and other stuff, well, on your 1/2 ton truck your over loaded.
But hey it will do it right , I only go a few miles and its flat ground and there is a built in safety factor , yea I'll be ok.

Attorney to you in court: did you know the Honda ridge line has a towing capacity
You : Yes
ATT: did you know you were over it by 2500LBS
You: Yes
ATT: you do realize the two Smith children sitting here now have no parents because of your stupidity
You: but I thought........
Att: Did you think about the Term , Vehicular Man SLAUGHTER

Laugh if you want guys but there aint no way around it .
