For the first time since 2000 I am not at the Preakness. Kind of sad, but I realized that when I was partying in the infield last year and young "kids" kept coming up to us and saying excuse me sir can I have a beer.
My response every time was "NO!" and then the kids would ask why, I would say "BECAUSE YOU CALLED ME SIR!" Damn, I'm not that old!
I will say, every year I went it was always something I looked forward to especially the first couple of years we went. In 2000, we probably have 50 people there with us & the cool thing about the Preakness is you can "bring your own beer, as long one person can carry it in." So being 20 (or 21, yeah thats right 21, or atleast that's what my ID said) years old at that point, our genius idea was to fill trashcans that had wheels on them & "roll them in." Well when we got to security, they tried to give us crap, but we explained calmly that we were following the rules and after about 5 minutes and a few security guards I walked happily in with my trash can....
Well over the years things have changed and it's not as much fun as it used to people. There are fights now and all that stuff, used to be just a bunch of college kids and so forth looking to have a good time, not cause any problems.
Take a look at this, here's what all the "smart kids" were doing last year.
YouTube - Preakness 2007 - Running of the Urinals
Well after my long rant, this is a sports forum, so who you got...
I think this one is actually going to be a runaway as "Big Brown" really has no competition, it's almost like after what happened to "Eight Belles" (very sad) horse racing is trying to get a Triple Crown winner so people forget about it.
So I have Big Brown to WIN.. Still working on the Trifecta..
Well after thinking about not being at Preakness and getting off the phone with my best friend & roommate from college who was with me every year, I think it's time for a beer. & Maybe a run across some urinals!
