Transducer is fitted. This is a "through hull" as opposed to a "shoot through" model. Could not see the sense in cutting a hole in 5mm alloy & filling that hole with a hunk of plastic.

Bit of style. Carpet on the dash.

More luxury. Speakers are in & work. Doof, doof.

LEDs mounted at 45 deg under the gunnel so you can identify the toothy critter that is chewing on your leg at night.

Bit of stuff to go in.

Default New/Better/More Stylish Steering Wheel

Evening all,
Back a bit Blue Water Runner suggested a SS wheel would look good on the new boat. I sort of bagged him at the time but am having second thoughts. I do NOT want to spend US$400 on a wheel but am flexible on a cheaper item.
I went for the black wheel on the boat because it is fairly thick & has a good non slip surface. I am starting to get a bit of arthritis in my fingers so that is a factor. I see Edson has a wheel with a soft backing but it ain't cheap.
What else is out there in 5/8 taper that is made in the US.
Needs to be SS or polished alloy with a spinner on the outside. I do not need dolphins or marlin on the spokes.

The black wheel does look good. We'll let you slide just this once.

Default Getting close

Brackets are in. A real fun job getting these suckers just right when you have to go through carpet & you are working alone.

Stuff is in.

Finally. Furuno 585 & Raymarine C80. They are not hooked up but at least they are there.

Bummer!!! Just noticed the ripple in the carpet in front of the compass. Will it never end?

Hey Pete , I hope those electronics arn't to close to your compass. Most say no electronics with in 1 meter.

Looking good Peter.

G'Day Les,
The manuals all say that but I figure that when I am out & about I will work off my plotter. If the plotter dies then I will be back to compass, chart & parallel ruler, items that I actually have . Although on the CC the Ray 760 was also very close to the compass & it did not seem to affect it. The mag bearing on the compass was always in synch with the mag reading on the 760. To within a few degrees anyway.
There is only so much room on the dash & there was no way that I would go for an overhead mount as I will be removing the 585 & C80 between trips.

Good job Pete, the center consol that I run has even less room , My EPIRP is just far enough away.

I had one guy set his hand held GPS down on the dash right next to the compass to compare headings then he proceded to tell me my compass was off [ As I slowly slid his GPS to the side the compass came back ] and he said " Would ya look at that " LOL
