I've found that setting a trailer up with V-bunks makes putting the boat on in wind and current much easier. Putting the bunks long ways is a much easier way to build a trailer, but with the winds in Maui, the V bunks are the best.
To install then, first you block up the boat and remove the existing bunks off the trailer. Then you put the trailer on stands so the boat is where you want it. Then the fun begins. First, you make up a couple dozen mounting plates and then you cut up tubing so the long plates the wood bolts is going to be bolted to are all positioned about 4 inches from the hull.
Like this:
Then you tack weld it all together. That is not me doing the welding. That person has hair AND can tack weld 1//2 inch plate without enough amperage.
When it is done, it looks kinda like this, before it is all removed for finish welding:
The arch also arrived yesterday, so here it is after cutting the legs to length. I've got a section of an old arch that I used to mock it up so I could give Atlantic Towers the dimensions I wanted the arch made to. You'll notice all the tools are on the ground. Does that mean I have some farmer in me?
