not really much to do
I grew up in the Great Lakes and we always had these strange looking net boats. First time I went on one, it was on Lake Michigan and they were netting perch, herring and whitefish for the local markets. Always thought they were weird looking boats. Didn't draw much water 5.5 ft, but in a storm it's really the boat to be on.
After having travelled the world, we find ourselves back on the GL - no ice yet, tho it's been cold. Anyway, this one was calling to me - begging to be saved from the scrap yard.
She's 60 x 15 x 5.5 - single 8V71 with a Twin Disc MG509 3:1 transmission and 2.5" stainless shaft. Hull below waterline is 9/16" and above 3/8". 59 GRT
Ultra sounded the hull and found in good condition for the age of vessel.
We're going to put keel coolers on and go with a dry stack, change out the 2 cyl Lister for a 4 cyl Onan. Newer fuel tanks, stainless water tanks, holding and LectraSan. Add 100 ft more chain. Just the basics. The former net and cleaning area will be made into a living area. Then a new color scheme paint job.
