James,

Got your message. Working tomorrow, might be able to help for a few hours this weekend if the weather holds. Give you a call tomorrow.

Being on vacation, haven't been keeping up with the cell phone as much as I usually do. Been napping on the couch mostly. I know I'm a lazy douche, but I needed a week to lay on the couch.

Chris

No worries. Wasn't planning on putting you to work, just thought you wanted to check it out. I have too severe of ADHD to be able to sit still on a couch like that.

Default more progress

Got stringers glued in the other day. Here are a few shots. Used west system with filler.

Today I laid out all my cloth and glass the stringers in. Easier said than done. Glue starts to kick in less than 15 minutes when its hot outdoors. Might should have got tropical hardener. I would have taken more pictures of the process otherwise rather than the end result.:

Plan to get the dimensions for the new fuel tank tomorrow and bring it to the welder. Maybe work on some knees and bulkheads. . .

Yea Matt.. just starting to come together, still have plenty left to do. Dropped off materials today to get a new fuel tank made up.
Tommy - I haven't got a call yet to fish so unless someone calls me I guess I'll just work on the boat or relax a day. Who knows. I'll talk to you on the phone beforehand I'm sure.

Today's progress:
I measured out some knees for the stern to reinforce the bracket I'm mounting and also made up a knee to replace along the starboard side. Here they are after I finished cutting them out. Used 1" and 1/2" plywood:

Another:

Then I glued the 1" and the 1/2" together and glassed one side:

Default Finally updated

Alot has taken place since my last update. I didn't have internet service so was unable to post things. I'll try and keep all these in order:

I had only glued in the center stringer to where the fuel tank was going to start. I had to measure out and wait for the new fuel tank to get back to me. Having the measurements, I laid a shorter stringer for the tank to rest on and then picked it back up all the way to the stern. I then tied the center stringer into a single knee rather than two, which I had originally planned for.

Center stringer glued and glassed in:

Then I had to build the fuel tank compartment. Started with a single sheet of 1/2" and glassed the bottom and set it. Along with some forward and rear bulkheads:
Glassing the bottom:

Bulkheads:

"mostly complete" fuel compartment

Default console work...

Alright, while all this was going on I had planned to do something about the large console.

I used the sawsaw to knock it down to the size I wanted first. This included taking off the wasted seating in front.

Then I used luan to make mock ups of the sections I wanted to reconstruct:

Traced the patterns onto foam board and then cut them out:

Glassed each section of foam board

Thats about all the pictures I have right now of the console work at this point. But it is all glued and glassed together with foam board and I need to do some fairing and a little here and there still....

Default More....

Then I finally got my fuel tank back. It will hold about 15 more gallons than the old one, around 70some gallons, I'll figure it out exactly when I have some free time (HA)
Set it into the compartment:

After this I foamed around it and also laid pipe for wires to the console. Don't have pictures of all this yet.

Then I started with the decking. Used luan strips to make patterns for each area 4' at a time, then traced them onto 3/4" plywood and fitted each section one at a time. This included grinding down stringers flush with the shoes around the edge of the boat:

Tracing the template:

Once I had all the deck fit in, I took it all out and glassed the bottomsides of each piece:

Now I have to make some time to get the deck glued down and glassed in. Will be weekends from here on out because I started back work.

I also should add that I sold my 175 off the back and am looking for another motor. Would like to find a 200 for the back. Also will like to find a good used hydraulic steering package cheap.
Check back soon!

How new (or old) of a 200 are you looking for? My buddy has a 1995(ish) Yamaha 200 that he keeps toying with the idea of selling but never has gotten to it...not sure if he would now, but I could say something to him. Runs fine, he just wants bigger/better/newer/etc...
