Default How Do You Keep Your Trolling Lures???

When I built my boat, I made all the cabinets, I never like the way different boats kept their trolling lures and terminal tackle so I made this tackle station. It holds three hundred lure neat and ready to go, along with terminal tackle trays. THe wood dividers are 3/8" x 1" and spaced 1-1/4" apart, making around fourteen slots with three lures per slot x 6-drawers for lures, two for terminal tackle and one big bottom draw for misl large spools of line, spare fuel & oil filters and other stuff.

Marty, I like your drawers. I can tell you put a lot of thought into that boat and it shows .

I have drifted away from alot of prerig stuff these days. I have streamlined and use prettymuch the same size windon leaders on all my rods which eliminates the need for alot of different size hardware. Now days if I want to change color or hook size I just cut and re-rigg as needed. I keep all my Trolling lures in a " LureBox" Stackable sysem. The five tray system fits in a five gallon bucket. With two of these I can fit almost 200 unrigged trolling lures in minimal space!! When I had rigged lures about 75 per fivetray system..Mark

Hey Mark,

I used the stackables for a while, but after they fell over or got knocked over more than a couple of times, or trying to get a bottom of the pile rigged lure out without lots of the leaders and hooks tangling during a hot bite, I went away from them. They probably aren't bad as you are using them with unrigged lures, but I like getting back in the action in moments, not tens of minutes. I don't like the stress of trying to do everything just right uder the pressure of a hot bit, taking out lures, leaders, hooks crimps, etc and then spending time rigging. Over zellous crimping of under crimping etc. can be fatal!

IMO, its like Striper fishing, rather from the surf or the boat. I can snag the bottom and break off or get cut off by a Bluefish and yet be back in the action in less than a minute with nothing more than a hook to sharpen. Its an old surf casting method that I beleive in and made the difference in catching hundreds of extra pounds of Stripers in a tide from the surf back in the seventys.

I have always carry ten times what I could possible use, in every possible color and size, rigged and ready to go. If the fish are on a certian color or lure and catching better than another, I just pull it out and start catching fish.

Welder,
you know that every single thing on my boat is built around making the trip and the catching ability the best I can. From my toe rails to keep you steady on a big fish in the gimble, to the five outriggers to set my trolling pattern up just right, so I can zig and zag when the first bite comes into the pattern without crossing or tangling and getting six to ten fish on. I really tried to think about everything I could to make me as successful on every trip as I can. ADDICTED AND ABCESSED!!!
Marty

Tell me I spent a couple months hanging Iron and stairs&rail at the El Capitan theater on the walk of stars.

I think every freak from THE REST OF THE WORLD was there, that was the 1st time I ever seen a oriantal Steet person.

And I made the Welding Inspector sh!t his pants [ for real ] He had to inspect my welds on some 4"X4" sq. tube that holds up the Blade sign out front. I was using a ZOOM BOOM 110' and needed all of to reach the top piece , when we came down I swung it out over HollyWood Blvd. and down at the same time and fellers , that was it for him.
Heck he didn't yell , he just stayed real quite with that OH SH!T look on his face.
