A little bit of action in western LI Sound, near Target Rock at mouth of Lloyd Harbor.

Was out this past weekend. We hit on a lot of bonito under rainfish schools. Very few stripers caught. One guy from our club tourney caught two 38 inchers in 60 feet of water, at 30 feet depth trolling shad umbrella rigs. They are starting, but the water temp is still pretty warm in the low 60's. Maybe in a week?

I got nothing in the surf yesterday. Guys next to me though pulled out two 30 minutes before I got there on fresh clams. 9AM is too late. The fish were nice; I watched him clean them.

Went out of Shark River today. Blues and bass everywhere within a mile of the inlet. There were large schools of bait.. either rainfish or spearing they were feeding on. My son and I boated 6 bass and a dozen or so blues. They were all 27-33". There was no wind at all and it was a lake out there. Whenever a bass broke the surface we could cast a jig right to the spot and pick one up.

Not sure what they grow up to be but they're small baitfish that sorta look like spearing.
