There is a new group forming in the Gulf of Mexico to help lobby for recreational fishing. It is time we get on a level playing field with commercial interests to ensure that we can have reasonable seasons and creel limits.
Quote:
The first meeting of the Conservation Cooperative of Gulf Fishermen (CCGF) will be held on January 3 and 4, 2008. The meeting will take place at the Destin Community Center in Destin, FL. The times will be 10AM to 5 PM each day. This is the organizational meeting where the new board members will elect a President, Vice President, and Secretary/Treasurer, ratify the bylaws, set goals and objectives, and provide the future direction of the coop.
Everyone is welcome to attend and encouraged to join. So that we may determine how many people may attend and how much meeting space we will need, please let me know if you do plan to attend the meeting. There will be some interesting discussion and interaction among those in attendance and those concerned about our industry and fisheries. A tentative agenda will be provided shortly. If you have any questions, please contact me. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
