The frustration of them regulating us out of fishing due to incompetence of the regulators is bringing out a lot of confusion and anger. They can only collect data in certain areas and that is not where the red snapper live and breed. They do not collect stock samples from the rigs or other related structures. DUH!!!

Yes we are in the same position.

Fl & TX have 9 mi EEZ's, AL,MS & LA - 3 mi EEZ's. That was in their contract when they joined the union. It's in stone!

Texas regulates fishing out to 9 nautical miles, and the federal government, through the Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council regulates fishing from 9 to 200 nautical miles from the coast. The total coastal zone of Texas comprises an area of more than 33,000 square miles. Commercial fisheries has a value of $156 million a year for the state.

WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!

It is VERY fair that charters are considered a part of the recreational sector, since that is what we are. Unless things are vastly different on the Gulf Coast than anywhere else; we are essentially a taxi ride and guide service for recreational fishermen, aren't we?

I do most (practically all) of my fishing out of Homer,AK and we are having a knock-down-drag-out over halibut right now. The commercial entities (and a few governmental ones) want to consider us as commercial operators, because that is the easiest way they can take fish from the recreational sector.

Do not fool yourself...we ARE recreational fishermen (even though we're not allowed to fish on a paid trip).

This is all we need with 9 weekends of snapper fishing. Be lucky to get in 4 ... 2 day weekends for 16 fish per angler. It usually gets pretty active around Grand Isle Rodeo time.

Forecast: Active Hurricane Season

The foremost hurricane prediction expert says the up-coming hurricane season should be a "well above average" season for activity. Dr. William Gray is calling for 15 named storms for the Atlantic Hurricane Season that starts in June. He says eight are expected to become hurricanes
