Default Why you can only keep two snapper . . . must see!

The REAL REASON you can only keep two snapper, and will have a shortened season.

Just looks like we'll have to diversify ... I've been making 6 hookers the last 3 days for the elec. deep drop reels.
If I get into fish with no limit I might hang 4 in tandem and pick up 2 doz. fish a drop. I'm gonna fish!!!

No Red not yet. Looks like I will have to if I want to catch and keep any snapper at all. To anyone who doesn't know, don't think I'm getting this to be a commercial fisherman. That is not the case. It is because I will be gone during the new, shorter season, for the whole time, while I work in Alaska. Hence, the recreational season has been completely eliminated for me personally.

Recreational guys spend the money and get nothing for it.

NMFS = NO MORE FISHING SNAPPER

Saw a boat out there last week with those big electric reels on all four corners of the boat ... commercial AJ is closed, gag is closed, snapper is closed. Don't know WTF they were catching and keeping...scamps?

How deep were you fishing? Commercials can take most species at any time, including grouper.

Scamp, yellowfin, yellowmouth, rock hind, and red hind grouper
comprise the shallow-water grouper complex.

Snowy, yellowedge, speckled hind, warsaw, and misty grouper
comprise the deep-water grouper complex.

I wonder how many recreationals, charters/headboats there are in Texas ... 373 miles of shoreline?

Interesting report on RNR by Myron Fisher.

This is what is killing us. A "legal" Texas limit of four snapper per angler. (no closed season)

A legal Texas catch for six anglers caught yesterday 3-22-08
