I would like to take a second to thank Captain G for beign a part of TBR. He's our first Northeastern Captain to request a forum.

I know your fishing up there doesn't start for a few more weeks, but I wanted to get this ready for you as you may now use it whenever!

Tight Lines,

Matt

Thanks so much Matt, I hope to provide everyone a good idea of whats going on here in the northeast during the coming months.

The Gulf of Maine codfish season opens here on April 1st and everyone is chaffing at the bit to stick some cod after a long snowy winter. Caribou Maine reported its greatest snowfall in history with over 190" on the ground this season..and they are still counting!

I will be running out of Gloucester Harbor in April and May, fishing the Stellwagen Bank area primarily. This unique structure in the heart of Massachusetts bay provides early season cod anglers the opportunity of fishing in relatively shallow waters (90-100ft) for these prize food fish. Current regulations allow 10 cod per person with a 24" minimum length on Gulf of Maine cod. Along with cod this area priovides fantastic haddock fishing (19" minimum no bag limit) and has even produced trophy halibut to over 200 lbs in the past.

Commercial fisherman have been reporting recently the cod are stacked on the bank so April 1st cant come soon enough as far as I am concerned.

Stay tuned!
