Default Bluefish chowder

You cannot throw back bluefish saying "there no good for eating" until you have tried this recipe.

Bluefish Chowder Recipe - Jasper White | Food & Wine

I found some bluefish in the freezer from August, and didn't know what to do after realizing how fishy it smelled. So I found this recipe and it turned out very very good.

I substituted regular strip bacon and chicken stock + about 1/4 cup of fish sauce because I didnt have any fish stock or bones to make fresh stock.

Also, I make sure my bluefish is cleaned ASAP after being caught and all red flesh is cut out.

Enjoy

Man, that sounds good. Call me crazy but I love bluefish. It is one of my favorites. I grew up eating atlantic mackeral so bluefish seems mild to me, never tried it in a chowder. I will now.

I've been wanting to make some sort of chowder with fish (random urge in the past few days). I think I'm going to try to catch some striper in the next week or two just for that purpose.

I'm with you Capt. Fred...I love bluefish. So does my cousin and we fish together all the time, so we tend to target blues when everyone else is cursing em for tying up their lines...
