Default Friday the 13th Florida Fishing

With the women in our lives away to Orlando for a dance competition my son and I used the time wisely. Friday evening we planned to do a little inshore fishing and then Sunday we hope to head offshore. So tonight we loaded up the boat and left the dock just before 5:30. Our plan was to use only artificial baits on light tackle (10 lb braid) and if we missed a few big fish so be it. The evening started quickly as on my second cast I boated the first Snook of the night which went 25 ½ inches. My son quickly followed with several fish in the 20 to 24 inch range. Then I caught my best Snook of the night which ate a DOA Bait Buster and she went 29 inches.

Matt quickly followed with a sweet 22” Trout that also hit a DOA.

After a quick sandwich Matt followed his Trout with this sweet 28” Snook.

Our catch for the quick 3 hour night included 9 Snook to 29 inches (Matt got 6), 1 Trout @ 22 inches and I got 3 nice jumps out of a 25 to 35lb Tarpon before it got off boat side.

Just a great start to a fun filled weekend with my son.

Always a great time fishing with my son. We did an offshore run on Sunday with a friend and did quite well. Had fresh Grouper for dinner 3 days in a row! This weekend looks fairly good. I hope to fish with Fernando (Blue Magic) over Thanksgiving weekend if he has some time.
