Default Key West Charters

I'm trying to find a good charter for tarpon fishing in Key West a few weeks from now. Since there are too many charters to count, I figured I'd look for some advice. There will be 5 in our group. If anyone has any recommendation/experience with any charters, all info would be appreciated. Picking the best website isn't really the best way to find one.

thanks

Angler, first off, thanks for the reply. But I have a question: the second link looks like a large company (ie lots of different captains). Are you saying a particular captain, or just that is a good business and any captain is ok? Just hoping to find some first hand knowledge or experience. Did a charter several years back and the guy was awful, much more concerned with saving money (less chum, burn less fuel) than putting us on any real fish. Just don't want to get stuck catching lady fish in the harbor again, I know you can't always tear it up, but the guy hardly made an effort.

Yes actually both are relatively large companies with multiple Captains and I included them only as a starting point as both have good reputations.

I'd suggest you check out this link from Florida Sportsman: InterMedia Outdoors Forums: Keys FAQ Thread Ver 3.0

Also post a question here: InterMedia Outdoors Forums: Keys--General Info

I'm headed to KW in 2 weeks. I have a Tarpon trip booked with Tim Carlisle (Sugarloaf Marina). He is apparently a legend down there. From what I have heard from several sources, you need to book tarpon trips 6 months to a year in advance. You might want to get on it. Your best bet at this point will probably be one of those booking companies.

Have a great time in KW. May & June are sweet months in the Keys for sure.

Bill Welder is a great guy and will tell you if he can accommodate your needs and provide a recommendation if not:
