Someone had asked me what rigging tackle I bring with me for offshore trolling so I thought I would do a post. Over the last 5-6 years I have really scaled back what I carry for rigging. I used to carry everthing under the sun but always seemed to use the same tackle when I was out on the boat. The last few years I have really enjoyed the use of Fluoro and Mono Windons and this has really simplified things that I bring with me. I dont do much pre rigging of lures on leaders anymore unless they are rigged on the windons which are on the rods I am going to use or ten ft trailers for my spreader bars. In the photo below you will see what I keep in my leaning post for doing the rigging. I only use 90-100 windons so it makes things easier. The two boxes carry everything I need when offshore for rigging and re-rigging lures. I still carry a wide assortment of trolling lures and enough of each color for a entire spread but that would be a new thread.
What do you guys carry in your rigging kit?
This is what I have wittled my rigging down too.
Assortment of swivels
Pre cut nose pins
Assortment of Anti Chaffing material
Assortment of egg sinkers for chin weights
Clippers and Lighter
Heavy wall sleeves
Bait Rigging needles
Crimpers
I switched hooks this year to the Mustad 7732 they seem to track better and they have a extremly sharp point and wide throat. I carry 8/0, 9/0, 10/0, and 11/0 with the 9/0s being the favorite size.
