Default Setting TLD 15 Drag

I just bought my first TLD 15 last night. I was going to use this reel to pull Stretch 25s and mojo's or something. I'm pretty much clueless when it comes to trolling.

My question is: How many pounds should I set the drag for? Also, it says on the side of the reel for "light trolling". What do they mean by light trolling?

thanks,
Ron

What LB line are you using?? I set the drags on mine for 1/3 of the lines beaking strength.
Example 20lb mono set for between 6 and 7 lbs.

That is drag at strike on the lever drag. About 8lbs for 25lb

On a lever drag check the reel at strike first with a drag scale. What is the drag? If the drag is ten lbs at strike that would be to much. Move the lever down to freespool and adjust the knob on the side of the reel to increase the drag you rotate the knob clockwise and anti clockwise to lessen the drag. Never adjust the drag knob on a lever drag unless the reel is in freespool. You can damage the reel!! Mark 8lbs would be the drag at strike. Mark

Light trolling does not really mean much. I have 6 souped up TLD25s that can catch just about anything my 30w2s can catch it would just take a little longer!!! Mark

I was thinking the same thing. Can't wait to try it out. Now I only need 3 more rods and reels!

Thanks again Mark. Wish I was living down in the Cape fear area. Sure do miss Long beach.
