Default Oregon Inlet 8/20

Went out of Oregon Inlet on my "Island Runner" Friday AM. Left Wanchese at 5:30 am believing a forecast of 2-3 @9 secs swell which turned out to be 2-3 steep chop.. Long ride NE to the 41000, 50 fathoms, and we took some water over the bow couple times as we fished upsea. Seas settled down some in the pm. Fished up as high as the 050 out to 100 fathoms. We saw 3 white marlin. hooked 2, and caught 1. Also caught 2 dolphin for dinner. Lots of scattered bailer dolphin around but marlin fishing was slow. Top charter fleet boat , "First Crack", had 4 whites. We had a bumpy 50 mile run home. Long day but I assume after all that my heart surgery was a sucess...
Mark (Offshore3144) was also out yesterday and today so he will have report...
Have Fun,
dw

Very nice Dave....I'm sure it was great to be an offshore Captain again. Mark offered to fish with him, but I'm landlocked this weekend. Excellent Job on the white's!

Dave it was good to here you on the water Friday. How did you do Saturday? We were White fishing on Friday went 0 for 3 and were up between the 850-950 line. Saturday we headed south to some warm water. There were a few blues hooked up around the 700 line on Friday. We ended up with Just the one white. It was the biggest white I have ever seen. Guessing somewhere just over 100lbs.

You were right about the 2-3s 9 seconds!! I looked back once and saw Seth standing in 3" of Water after we took one over the bow!! They were off about 6hrs on the forecast.... Mark
