Big Rock court date set

Looks like a court date has been set for July 13th

RALEIGH—A hearing date has been set in the case against the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament.

The hearing is scheduled for July 13 at 2:00 p.m. in Pasquotank County. The owners of the boat “Citation” filed a lawsuit against the tournament, seeking to have the boat named the winner of the contest and alleged a breach of contract. The boat was disqualified after it was discovered one of its mates did not have a fishing license.

In response to the lawsuit, the tournament Board of Directors filed a declaratory judgment in Carteret County, seeking confirmation that it made the right decision to disqualify “Citation”. No date has been set yet for that hearing.

Nearly $1 million in prize money is on the line.
