Surf Reds, Duh! ........
4 of us playing with a 2 small school of Reds today........
The water was not clear, a little dirty with clumps of snot grass, but looks fishy ........
"Everybody knows you can't catch Reds in dirty water ! "
Are the words uttered by "Recon Man" earlier today .........
First cast, fish on, pulled in a 28" ........
Look around me & my other 3 buddies are also hooked up .....
The 4th angler we will call "Recon Man", to protect his identity
is nowhere in sight, he's gone .........
I spot "Recon Man" racing across the flats ........
A dot on the horizon, trying to find clean water, looking for a big school to sight cast to
& is unaware of how many Reds we are catching, missing out on this hot action .......
We 3 did everything possible, short of setting off flares to get his attention ......
But "Recon Man" is on a mission & will not be distracted or stray from his task of finding us fish to catch! Duhhhh ...........
So we 3 go back to catching fish, very close to over slot Reds, on almost every cast ......
Man's this is crazy catching !
"Recon Man" returns, ready to show us how it's done & wouldn't you know it, the fish stop biting ........
We all were throwing different color & shaped jig heads ( white, red, unpainted ) from 3/8 to 1/2 oz. didn't seen to matter.......
DOA & Bass Assassin paddle tails in both root beer with chart. tail & silver flecks with chart. tail worked better them Gulp .......
Now we are back as team, 4 strong, armed & ready to do battle, with these Bull Dogs of the surf but not having great success .......
We decide to split up, walk the surf looking for the school, we do to find a smaller school of slot Reds & manage to land a few more ......
But there is no Redfish love for "Recon Man", every fish he hooks ( and it's only a few ) let's go & he never got to land any Reds today ..........
Sorry, there are NO pictures .......
I have a moral obligation to keep "Recon Man's" identity a secret ...... ICM
