It's a nice place except the locals still believe that everyone should still own a slave......In other words their is a lot of racist assholes. I lived in Hilton Head and worked in Beaufort and everytime a bus came by, they would call them the slave buses.
On the fishing side in Beaufort it's all inshore fishing, flounder, trout, reds, sharks and like Rick said excellent cobia and tarpon fishing.

They don't want them to be slaves. They just want them to go back to Africa and take their supreme leader with them!!

Rick, once I found out I was headed that way the first sight I came across was yours. Really got me fired up. Can't wait to hit the water. As I'm not familiar with the water their do you have any boat recommendations? Stuck between a new 19-21 ft Skiff type boat or an older used deep V. I see above that the areas mostly inshore, which leads me to believe a Skiff would be fine. Thoughts?

Jalx,,,If I had to buy a new boat right now it would be the new Sea-Hunt XP21. I looked at one and it had a 150 on it. I would go with a 200.
Bay Boat XP 21

Lester,,,The one Eric is holding was caught on a live green back herring in the Broad river on 30lb tackle.
And the one Im holding was caught on a live menhaden while using 50lb braid on a big spinning reel here in Charleston offshore in the shipping channel at buoy marker 4. There was about 20 fish under the buoy when we pulled up. Drove us crazy!
Here is another shot of the fish and the boat. John is another charter captain here in Charleston.

If I had the money I'd buy a new 21-22 foot bay boat. My budgets in the $15K range.
