A few Specks .......
When Speck fishing today with All Day Ray ........
The day started out foggy & cold until we found some fish ........
Tried topwaters, a few sinking MirrOlure's but the fish were picky & only wanted soft plastics ........
When thru a few different kinds until the perfect combination of jig head weight & plastic was found .......
Had a lot of short Flounders & a few Blues ...........
All Day Ray caught most & lost a few fish, while I sent most of my time with the net - he schooled me again ......... I am much better with the net anyway .........
8 Specks the biggest was 20" .......
Ray had a great time, more then a few laughs & enough fish for a couple of meals ......... ICM

Capt. Rick ...... we tried MirrOlures MR 27-EC , MirrOminnow 19MR - silver, STTR-808 ( big favorite ), 52 RT ( Rainbow Trout ) Rapala Slash Bait - ghost......
1/4 oz. jig heads when to 1/8 oz. several different soft plastics, curly tails, stick baits, trout killers, gulps minnows with curly tail, a lot of different colors & shapes - anything that looked like a glass minnow was the ticket ......
It was trial & error all day ....... ICM

They look like trout. Are they fresh or saltwater? Nice looking bunch of fish anyway. We have Cutthroat and Dolly Varden (Bull Trout) that you can catch in salt water here or fresh when they enter the streams to spawn, but they've outlawed catching Dollys. In Alaska most people don't even keep Dolly's, they're sort of a scavanger and in the char family I believe. Nice fish ICM

Libra....... Sorry for the late reply........
MBI Rock Jetty has been producing big Specks & lots of Spikes - it's been hit or miss lately - sometimes to rough to fish & always crowded, so we never go ........
Like to fish places less traveled ........
We have Speckled Trout fished several more times since this post & not had any keepers - all Spikes ( small Specks ) ........ sometimes as many as 25, most recent trip only 3 Spikes ........
Wed 12/9 big blow had them feeding & blew in dirty water ( did not fish ).........
Thurs 12/10 shut them down ( we did fish ) only 3 Spikes & worked hard for those, clean moving water was the ticket ..........
Reds are showing up & Blues are still around ......... caught a few 2#'s Blues on TT's, Catch 2000 & topwater when we were Speck fishing the other day .......
Hope this helps ........ ICM
