Default First for me

We caught a 60 to 70 lb Sailfish off Sarasota Fl...........(Yeh The left coast of Florida)
We were fishing in 120 ft which is 36 miles offshore in the 243 Everglades. We wanted to do some light tackle fishing for some grouper, kings, and snapper. By light tackle I mean with our trout rods. We managed to catch some Spanish Macks, King Macks and some Bonita. The Sailfish hit a live greenies about 30 feet from the back of the boat. It took my buddy Jason 1 hour and 20 minutes to get the fish to the boat. The fish was caught on a Shimano Symetre 4000 with 8 lb braid.
Another great memory in my book............sorry no pictures.

Sweet!!!. Way to go. That's some light tackle action for sure. You ready to get up here for the Fall tuna run? If the weather would ever cooperate, we might be able to get out for a few days. We'll get you on a boat for sure.

Once the fish hit and jumped out of the water about 10 times, I handed the rod to Jason and said ........good luck .........as I was laughing my ass off because I knew what he was in for.
When I fish like that, meaning really light tackle.......it gives me a woody and I try to really catch the fish.
Some of my finest catches, or having people catch a fish of a life time on my boat are
32" Trout on 6 lb test (Ft Pierce Fl)
17 lb weakfish on 8 lb test (Sandy Hook NJ)
23 lb bluefish on 8 lb test (Sandy Hook NJ)
62 lb Dolphin 20 lb test (Georgetown Hole SC)
120 lb Blacktip on 20 lb test (Hilton Head SC)
190 lb Tarpon on 40 lb test (Boca Grande Fl)
24 lb Bonita on 6 lb test (Jupiter Fl)
25 lb Backfin Tuna on 6 lb test caught by Angler System Jeff (Sarasota Fl)
350 lb Bull Shark on 40 lb test (Jupiter Fl)
45 lb African Pompano on 10 lb test (Jupiter Fl)
40 to 50 lb Redfish 6 lb test (Venice La)
Bunch of Saifish on 20 lb test (Jupiter Fl)
450 lb Marlin on 50 lb test (Stuart Fl)
Did a trip off Hatteras with a rep from Sage fly rods that caught the world record Bluefin on a fly rod. To be honest I forgot what the tippet was but the fish was in the 300 lb range.
About the pictures no camera.....the guys that know me know that I never bring a camera on the boat. (Very rare if I do) I did try to take some pictures with the cell phone but I was to busy chasing the fish down. The Sail jump about 50 times and one of the times he jumped he smacked into port side of the boat.

Okay I'm done bragging.............
Wait One More
230 lb BIG EYE on 50 lb test and 120 lber the next day (OBX NC)

That's okay Tred deserves alot of credit for what he has done for sport fishing. It's sad what happened to him. I fished alongside of him alot and we used to help each other out all the time.
