Default OBX Sound Stripers -any???

We are heading down to Manteo the week after Christmas and wondering if anyone has heard of any stripers being caught around Mann's Harbor. If so, are eels being used? Thanks for any report. My 7 year old is getting his first spinning rod & reel for Christmas so I am hoping to get him on at least one striper.

Rick,

Don't go sending guys to the other websites! We want to keep them here on TBR!

I have heard some good reports from the Manns Harbor Bridges, but I myself have not had a chance to go yet.

My suggestion would be either eels, rattle traps, or pull some smaller strecth's like a Stretch 15 or 20.

Hey no the less it will still be fun!

I've caught them from the mainland side right next to the old bridge with redhead jigs with chartreuse bodies. You'll want to have some waders to get the lures out where the fish are. Generally they are schoolie sized stripers, no eels necessary. If you have a boat, fish the pilings of the bridge. I haven't fished there for several years, but that is how it used to be.
