Default 3 Days of Fishing, Offshore, Inshore & Nearshore

I’ve had a wonderful 3 days on the water, man I love Florida!! Although I did not catch any trophy fish personally each day was sweet.

It began Friday when I fished with a friend about 15 miles off of Venice. Our intention was to anchor up on a wreck and chum for Snapper and although that plan never produced Snapper we did have a blast landing some large Jacks, Cobia’s, a Juvenile King and a Shark on a variety of artificial baits using generally medium weight spinning reels.

Saturday evening my son and I decided to go fishing in the Kayaks with some neighbors. We had a blast and landed Trout and Snook including this 28” Snook which hit a new color DOA that I got at a tackle show 2 weeks ago. The DOA has a glow top and speckled gold bottom and should be a winner!

Sunday my son and I joined my buddy Steve and headed to the Jetties as the word was the Mackeral (Spanish & King) bite was on. When we got there it was apparent that the hot Saturday action cooled somewhat. We spent several hours trolling a variety of King Spoons 350’s, MirrOdine Deep Divers, Rapala’s and Mann’s. Within the first few minutes of trolling we landed a couple False Albacore which hit the King Spoons in the gold color. Shortly thereafter we got a mixed bag of Spanish and King Mackerel which also hit the same color Spoon and the MirrOdine Deep Diver. We ended the short day after boating 10 nice fish.

Can’t wait till next weekend!

Jeff

Nice going Jeff!! I still like the idea of those kayaks fishing the best. There's something about being out on the water at night with no motors or generators.

I agree, really like fishing in the Kayak and this time of year is just great for doing just that. The temp's are dropping into the mid-low 70's in the evening and the water is still +/- 80 degree's.
